Can Tho is the largest city in the Mekong Data and home to some of the country ‘s most interesting markets. The commercially – friendly location along the banks of the Hau River has made this an important trading center for centuries.
Morning & Breakfast on a boat
Wake up early in the morning and find the way to the Ninh Kieu Wharf, which is a few minutes from Can Tho city center. Make sure to get there around 5 am! Here you will have to seek a boat that bring you to Cai Rang Floating Market. It will take around 30 minutes to reach the market and you will have a chance to look the beautiful views of the sunrise when your boat surf on the gentle morning waves.
At the Cai Rang floating market, you are able to observe the typical activities. You will see all sorts of colorful vessels with fruits and vegetables stacked two or three feet high. If you want to buy something or wish to know what a boat is selling, check the giant bamboo pole erected out the front of the boat, it will display the samples of what is available. Other boats sell cooked food or coffee and some are people ‘s homes. It is fascinating to see how people live on the water.
A private sampan tour
The tour is carried by floating down the river and board a smaller wooden boat. You will get up close and personal with floating home – boats with a covered mid-section where people sleep, cook and spend their day shielded from the sun. All these will give you a little insight about the life of citizen in the Delta Mekong.
Afternoon
Lam The Cuong ‘s cacao farm is an ideal destination for your trip. Here you can learn how the cacao seed turns into a final product such as chocolate, cacao alcohol… The owner will give you a sweet tour that only cost a little dollar and you will have an opportunity to look the process of fermenting, drying and roasting cocoa beans. Beside, you have other choices to register the tour to visit the fruit gardens. Here, you can stroll around the gardens, watch the farmers take care of trees and eat many kinds of fruit.
A good Evening
For the sunset, you can head over to Ninh Kieu Wharf to witness the beautiful spectacle over the harbor. Walking around the park, take some picture and spend a few minutes to enjoy the cool evening breeze. On the opposite side, you will find the Hai Ba Trung Street lined with many restaurant, bars and hotels. The night market is not too far from here and you can try to taste some local delicious foods sold in many different stalls. You will be able to fill your tummy up with fried meat, noodles dishes, spring rolls or rice pancakes…

What better way to end your night from the roof of a very tall building? Iris Skybar is located on the top of Iris hotel and here you will get the whole views of Can Tho City. Let ‘s enjoy some beer and fancy cocktails while the night lights slowly dim away in the distance.
The perfect time to travel Can Tho is mostly in April, May and June. This time of year has comfortable climate with light rain and cool weather so you can have a good time to explore the river areas and fruit garden in Can Tho City. Furthermore, if you are lucky, you can attend many festival during this period such as the Opening Crop festival… A note of cautions is that you should not come to Can Tho in November or December because it has floods and storms.
